Do not forget these words

National Poetry Month

Today is April 1, 2024. My Poetry-A-Day challenge has begun. No foolin’. I haven’t fallen for any jokes. I’m just excited to write some poetry. Poetry, wordplay, quotes, and excerpts from my favorite poets.

This is the start of my personal challenge to write AND post a bit of poetry every day for April. By a bit, I mean words written in any poetry form. This will be very interesting. I’m excited!

The image on the left is an April 8, 2008 journal entry—yes, a long time ago. It’s one of my favorite pages with wordplay. I put a little dot next to my favorite phrases. I share it with you freely, sending it out into the world. I have other pages I’ll post throughout the month. Wordplay is not necessarily about writing an amazing piece of poetry but writing something—anything. Get the words out of your head and make room for more words.

Let’s Write.

Dream Awake

August 8

Last night I dreamt the most vivid dream. I woke up at 22oam. I swear I heard the car door slam in the garage. What if I left the garage door open? With my heart pounding, I went to investigate. Sure enough, I left the big garage door open all night!  STUPID HEAD! I shut it and locked the inside door immediately. It’s now 540am, and I’ve been writing at my desk all this time, staring into the shadows. The sun is peaking over the mountain, and I’m finally tired. Was my dream an alert? A mental warning? I’d like to think so. Here’s one of my favorite quotes that help me learn to understand even my weirdest dreams:

This mental picturing power is God’s gift to help us bring about accomplishment. We all live in the embrace of a universal intelligence, and when we dream, we run up the antenna and catch the communication and inspiration from the divine upon the radar screens of our souls.

Journey of Blessings

August 28

Anticipation

Do I set myself up to be let down?

Expectation

I think about something for days, weeks, months then when it’s finally revealing itself to me it’s not what I was thinking.

Limits

I have standards that guide my life in a safe, orderly way. I’m dedicated.

Decisions

There are so many choices to be made. Am I selfish if I choose myself first? I would become weary if I only helped others. Help where you can.

Accomplishments

I understand that instant gratification can be ruinous. Patience is an exercise. I will be ready for my standing ovation when the time is right. Be proud of your accomplishments.

Be Yourself

I’m an unshakable pillar, a cautious snail quietly bidding my time. I’m searching for pure light and truth and learning to create more…
