The Artist
Terah Ware is a professional mixed media artist. Her curiosity in history and spirituality lead her on a path of self discovery. By researching her passion for the Edwardian Period and of Reincarnation, she was consumed with images of strong women. The art of mixed media gave her the binding to visually illustrate her thoughts and dreams. Antiquity is only the backdrop of her paintings. Nostalgia is her motivation. Her inspirations are found in antique stores and in Art Nouveau motifs.

The Journey
Terah Ware’s earliest memory of being an artist was in third grade. She remembers standing in the Washington County Art Museum and looking up at her drawing of a rabbit on display. She thought to herself, “One day, I am going to have my artwork here when I grow up.” She has had her mixed media paintings exhibited at the museum seven times throughout the years. In her youth, she would take pride in her art talents and demonstrate them in the classroom. Interestingly, in her teens, she was found exploring in antique stores and bringing home findings to add to her art nouveau jewelry collection. Unknowingly, the period of jewelry would influence her paintings later in life. Her love for children blossomed when she worked for the Boys and Girls Club as the Art Director. She also worked at Howard’s Art and Framing Store as a framing designer. By being surrounded by many different mediums in the art store, mixed media became her passion. Her interest in helping children that were at risk was powerful and for five years she worked at Stonebridge, a therapeutic group home for children. While she was working, she attended Shepherd University to pursue an art education degree. She is currently an art teacher for Morgan County, WV. Terah is active in her local communities by providing art educational experiences for the public and exhibiting her paintings in various galleries.

Art, Children and Spirituality are the three elements that are necessary for success in Terah’s life. With these elements she is content on her travels. In the future, Terah would like to pursue a masters degree in art therapy. She has considered studying hypnotherapy for past life regression. Terah will continue to teach art to the children and illustrate her dreams in mixed media.
