The art of mixed media is layering a multitude of different mediums to create a composition. Choosing the appropriate medium or material that will compliment the content of the painting is a delicate balancing act for the artist. She explores the spontaneity of the acrylic backgrounds that form the foundation for pastel portraits. The subtle images from vintage advertisements to handmade papers compose a message for the viewer. Terah Ware has introduced a style of mixed media that holds an essence of familiarity, yet lingers a mystery. Her paintings convey haunting images that leave impressions behind.
